  • Q: Is it important for parents to speak English in order to enroll their child(ren) in Sunshine Kids Academy?
    No problem! Our bilingual staff is always available to assist you in English and Japanese, so you do not have to worry about the language barrier. As for your child, we offer an English immersion program that allows them to develop natural English skills during the period when their brains are most receptive to language acquisition. By Joining our program, they are building a solid foundation for becoming bilingual speakers.
  • Q: Is it possible to enroll in the middle of the school year?
    Yes, it is possible. However, spaces may be limited; please get in touch with us for more information or to start the enrollment process. We would be happy to assist you in any way we can.
  • Q: Are any seasonal programs available for my child to enroll in during school vacation?
    Sunshine Kids Academy offers seasonal school programs during spring, summer, and winter holidays. If you are wondering what to do during these long vacation periods with your child(ren), our school is a perfect place for your child to learn many new things, as our thematic programs are fun and create lasting memories. In addition, our Seasonal Schools are also open to the general public, so please feel free to invite your child's friends and relatives.     "STEAM Learning" ●︎ Science ●︎ Technology ●︎ Engineering ●︎ Art ●︎ Mathematics STEAM Learning is an educational approach that combines Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. It encourages children's natural curiosity and creativity, providing learning opportunities through experimentation and challenge. By promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills, students are prepared to tackle real-world issues and succeed in a constantly evolving, technology-driven world.
  • Q: What are the qualifications and backgrounds of your staff?
    At Sunshine Kids Academy, we embrace pride in diversity. With the various nationalities of our staff, our students are provided with a unique opportunity to learn about and understand different cultures and their ethnicities while offering them opportunities to improve their skills in second language acquisition. Our teachers are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and dedicated to working with our students every day with passion and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Q: What are the available extended care services hours at Sunshine Kids Academy?
    ●︎ Tokyo Campus - Extended Service Until 6:30 PM ●︎ TShin-Urayasu Campus - Extended Service Until 7:00 PM At our Tokyo Campus, students may stay until 6:30 PM, while at the Shin-Urayasu Campus, Extended Care Service is available until 7:00 PM. If you require extended care beyond these given hours, please speak with our admin team about other available options. Our dedicated staff will lovingly and safely care for your child during the extended hours until you pick them up. Please note that extended care availability may vary, so we recommend contacting us as soon as possible to arrange a spot.
  • Q: If I wish to enroll my child into your Afterschool Program, are they given the opportunity to finish their homework during their time in the afterschool activities?
    Yes, each afterschool program includes a designated time allowing students to be able to complete their homework before they begin their day with afterschool activities. We also provide homework assistance support for students who may need it.
  • Q: Is it possible to arrange a school tour?
    Absolutely Yes! To schedule a school visit, simply fill out the inquiry form on our website or call us directly to book a visitation date. Our admin team is always happy to show you the facilities.
  • Q: How is Music and Movement class structured and what activities do children participate in?
    Our Music and Movement program incorporates dance, gymnastics, and music to help children develop their physical senses, musical understanding, and English language skills. The program engages children in active play and promotes the enhancement of their gross motor skills, coordination, rhythm, and creativity. Through a variety of interactive activities, children can express themselves, build social skills, and appreciate music and movement whilst also promoting their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Q: Does the school offer snacks and lunch service?
    ●︎ PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN Yes, the school provides healthy meals daily. However, we kindly request parents prepare and bring snacks for their children on as needed basis. ●︎ AFTERSCHOOL For students attending afterschool, a specially prepared healthy snack service is available at an additional cost. Please contact our office for more details.
  • Q: How would you explain the Professional Development Day listed on the School Calendar?
    The Professional Development Days on our School Calendar are dedicated to providing training to our teachers and staff to enhance the quality of education of our young learners, as well as to maintain their certification in emergency first aid and CPR in compliance with the regulations of the Tokyo Metropolitan and Urayasu City regulations. Furthermore, these days also aim to ensure the safety of our students by preparing our staff for other unforeseen emergencies and situations related to natural disasters that may arise.
  • Q: Can my child enjoy school activities regardless of their nationality?
    As an international school, we respect the values and nationalities of all our students. We incorporate many activities and events into our monthly teachings that promote diversity and intercultural understanding. Through such activities and events, we encourage students to appreciate their own identity and respect the values and traditions of other individuals whilst inciting these young learners to display feelings of empathy, compassion, and respect to make a positive difference in our community and society.
  • Q: What educational materials are utilized at the Sunshine Kids Academy?
    ●︎ PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN: Children in our Preschool and Kindergarten benefit from a various range of learning materials in their classrooms. Workbooks and other learning resources are secured from School Zone Pub Co (offering learning resources and publication for children ages between preschool through sixth graders since July 1, 1997). ●︎ AFTERCHOOL: Our students in afterschool benefit from Oxford ESL (Oxford University Press) workbooks and other materials customized to fit each student's level and capability. In addition, we incorporate many other creative tools, technological instruments, and resources into our classes to provide an optimal and immersive learning environment for our students.
  • Q: Is it possible to check on my child’s progress while they are in the classroom?
    We provide regular updates on your child's progress via our school app "Bloomz," or through our school's social media pages, such as Instagram and Facebook, every week. Additionally, parents can observe their child's classroom during Open School events held several times throughout the school year. Finally, kindly be noted that due to the COVID-19 preventative measures, Open House events are being held via Zoom.
  • Q: Is there a school bus service available to and from campus?
    To-and-From school bus service is available at both Tokyo and Shin-Urayasu campuses. If you are interested in utilizing our school bus services, please inquire with our staff regarding pick-up and drop-off locations, bus schedules, and availability. Our admin team would be happy to provide you with more information.
