Teaching Method

Inspired by the pioneering Italian physicist and educator Dr. Maria Montessori, we are deeply committed to her revolutionary child-centered educational philosophy. At the heart of our curriculum is the Montessori Method, which shapes our foundational teaching practices and learning environment. Additionally, we integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a secondary yet vital approach, ensuring that our students are not only well-prepared academically but also aware and responsive to global challenges.

Our 10 Core Principles

At SKA, we enhance our Montessori framework with pedagogical and heutagogical techniques, fostering self-directed learning and the capability for students to navigate their educational paths independently.

1

Respect for the Child:

We respect each child’s individuality, allowing them to learn at their own pace, which fosters independence, self-respect, and personal growth while recognizing each student's unique potential.

3

The Prepared Environment:

Our classrooms are meticulously organized to support self-directed learning, featuring materials and setups appropriate for various developmental stages, encouraging exploration and discovery.

5

The Educator’s Role:

Our educators act as guides, observing each child’s needs and interests and preparing the learning environment to facilitate learning by connecting children with appropriate materials and activities.

2

Sensitive Periods:

Our curriculum is designed to capitalize on the sensitive periods in child development, optimizing times when children are most receptive to learning specific skills such as language or fine motor tasks.

4

Autoeducation:

Aligned with Montessori principles, we cultivate an environment where children are motivated to initiate their own learning, exploring subjects that interest them through personal interaction with educational materials.

6

Teaching Methodology:

We emphasize practical, hands-on learning experiences that foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills, crucial for developing intellectual and practical skills applicable in real-world scenarios.

7

Uninterrupted Work Periods:

We provide extended periods of uninterrupted learning, allowing children to deeply engage with their work, enhancing concentration, mastering content, and deeply understanding the material.

9

Mixed Age Grouping:

Our classrooms feature mixed-age groups, mirroring real-world social structures and enhancing learning by allowing older students to lead and teach, thereby benefiting younger peers and promoting social skills and cognitive development in a collaborative environment.

8

Freedom Within Limits:

Children enjoy the freedom to explore their learning within clearly defined and structured limits, fostering self-discipline and enabling them to make informed decisions.

10

Holistic Development & SDGs:

We focus not only on academic achievements but also on holistic development by integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), preparing students to be thoughtful, compassionate global citizens who can act as agents of change.
