There’s a special kind of energy that fills a space when babies, toddlers, kindergarteners, elementary students, teachers, and parents all come together for one shared event. It’s loud. It’s lively. And for us, it’s one of the most memorable days of the year.
On May 9th, families from both Sunshine Kids Academy (SKA) and Chuo International School (CIS) gathered at Ariake Sports Center for Sports Day 2025. Held fully indoors, the event brought together our Tokyo and Shin-Urayasu communities for a morning filled with movement, laughter, and teamwork.
Why Sports Day Matters
From the outside, Sports Day may look like a simple collection of games and cheering. But watching closely, you see something more meaningful unfold in real time.
Children learn how to take turns, support teammates, follow instructions, and celebrate effort. Whether it’s a toddler carefully completing an obstacle course or older children coordinating a relay handoff, every activity becomes a moment of shared experience and growth through play.
How the Morning Unfolded
The day began with staff and teachers arriving early to set up stations across the indoor venue at Ariake Sports Center.
By 10:00 AM, the space was already full of excitement as teams—Blue, Red, Yellow, and Green—gathered to begin the program with energetic team chants.
The activities included:
Warm-Up & Dance to get everyone moving together
Ball Bonanza, where younger children and parents worked side by side to collect soft balls
Relay Race, with mixed-age team coordination and baton passing
Little Ninja Course, featuring tunnels, cones, and balance challenges
Sack Race, bringing plenty of laughter as children hopped toward the finish line
Balloon Relay, a fast-paced team challenge across multiple stations
A short water break to reset and recharge
And finally, Tug of War: Parents vs. Teachers, which became one of the most energetic moments of the morning
The event concluded with a closing ceremony and awards, recognizing not only winning teams but also team spirit, cheering, and participation. Everyone then gathered for a group photo to mark the occasion.
A Shared Community Moment
Sports Day 2025 reflected the strength of the SKA and CIS community coming together under one roof. The focus of the day was simple: participation, encouragement, and shared enjoyment.
For families across Tokyo and Chiba, events like this offer a glimpse into school life beyond the classroom—where community connection and childhood joy take center stage.
Thank You
To all parents who joined in with energy and encouragement, thank you. To teachers and staff who prepared everything behind the scenes, thank you. And to every child who participated with enthusiasm at their own pace, we are proud of you.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
